I am now offering a two-session career interest consultation for high school seniors and college undergraduates who are in the process of trying to select a major course of study OR contemplating a change in their major. Research tells us that 50-70% of undergraduate students change their major at least once, with many more going through this process several times. Given these high numbers, and the costs associated with changing one's major, it is a worthwhile investment of time and resources to make the best possible choice.
In our first session, we will review the student’s educational history, hobbies and activities, and complete a values clarification task. The Strong Interests Inventory is then administered at home via a secure Zoom link. This is a long-respected standardized assessment tool in the field published by the Myers-Briggs Company, and consists of 365 items which attempt to clarify academic subjects of interest, leisure interests, types of people one enjoys being with, and an assessment of personal strengths, among other things. A detailed multi-page interpretive report is then generated which compares the respondent's profile with approximately thirty-five professional group samples who have also completed the Strong and are employed in their respective fields.

Our second in-person session focuses on integrating the information from the above sources and providing recommendations for further consideration.
For individuals/families new to my practice, the fee for this two-session evaluation is $695.00. For current patients, the fee for the Strong Interest Inventory alone is $150.00 and may be incorporated into our regular sessions. Please contact me if you are interested, or call 631-543-8336.
